In the province of Sistan & Baluchestan, southeastern Iran, a traditional dance called 'raghs-e shamshir' (sword dance) which dates back as far as 3,000 years, includes many defensive and offensive techniques during which both dancers use steel swords and shields in a tense battle until one is symbolically defeated.
