Going to Iran? Don’t miss the Top 10 Destinations: Kashan

The city is famous for its traditional Iranian houses, once home to wealthy merchants. The homes, now museums open to the public, boast exquisite stained glass windows, cheerful wall paintings, long corridors and stunning décor. The gem of the museum complex is the Fin Garden, a majestic historical Persian garden.

Nathan, a US citizen who visited Iran in February 2015, wrote on his blog, “Kashan was notable because it was the end – the final stop of our tour before returning to the clamoring urban jungle of Tehran.  A small oasis in the middle of the Dasht-e Kavir, Kashan has captured the minds of travelers for centuries.”

“Kashan was notable because it was the final stop of our tour before returning to the clamoring urban jungle of Tehran,” wrote American traveller Nathan on his blog. He described Kashan as “a small oasis in the middle of the Dasht-e Kavir” that “has captured the minds of travelers for centuries” after visiting in February 2015.

Xavi Navarro, a Spanish tourist who visited Iran in 2014 says he and his travel companions spent two days in Kashan, where they were able to “experience the real Iran and its people's hospitality.” Like everywhere else in the country, Kashan is vying for most hospitable place in the country (if not the world). Xavi agrees that every traveler should experience Iranian hospitality — and that it is hard to imagine what it is like until you do have this experience.

According to the Experience and Observation blog, “traditional houses are the main attraction of Kashan...the courtyard is dug into the ground, such that one first has to descend the stairs before getting to the ground level of the house. Inside the courtyard, there are small gardens and at least one pool. Around the courtyard, there are open rooms facing the courtyard.” The site says that no matter what time of year, it is usually warm enough to sit outside and enjoy the grounds of a traditional house.
