26 Baha’is Sentenced to 85 Years Prison and Exile

On May 29, Judge Mahmoud Sadati of Branch 1 of Shiraz Revolutionary Court sentenced 26 Baha’is to a total of 85 years prison and exile and banned them from leaving Iran, on charges of “gathering and conspiracy to undermine the country’s domestic and foreign security”.

The sentences handed down were as follows:

  • Yekta Fahandezh Saadi, Lala Salehi, Bahareh Nowruzi, Rezvan Yazdani and Mozhgan Gholampour were each sentenced to five years in prison, their passports were invalidated for two years and they must report to the provincial Intelligence Department every day.
  • Sahba Moslehi, Nabil Tazhib, Ramin Shirvani, Behnam Azizpour, Esmail Rousta and Saeed Hosseini were each sentenced to five years, their passports were invalidated for two years and they were exiled; Sahba Moslehi to Ferdows in South Khorasan, Nabil Tazhib to Izeh in Khuzestan, Ramin Shirvani to Bagh-e Malek in Khuzestan, Behnam Azizpour to Dehdasht in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Esmail Rousta to Bafgh in Yazd and Saeed Hosseini to Lordegan in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. They must all present themselves at the provincial Intelligence Department every day.
  • Shadi Sadegh-Aghdam, Parisa Rouhizadegan, Nasim Kashaninejad, Maryam Eslami, Marjan Gholampour, Ahdieh Enayati, Samareh Ashnaei, Sahba Farahbakhsh and Noushin Zenhari were each sentenced to two years in prison and their passports were invalidated for two years. They must all must present themselves at the provincial Intelligence Department every day.
  • Shamim Akhlaghi, Mahyar Sefidi, Farzad Shademan, Farbod Shademan, Vargha Kaviani and Soroush Ighani were each sentenced to two years in prison, their passports were invalidated for two years and they were exiled; Shamim Akhlaghi to Semirom in Isfahan province, Mahyar Sefidi to Lamerd in Fars, Farzad Shademan to Minab in Hormozgan, Farbod Shademan to Firoozabad in Fars, Vargha Kaviani to Kashmar in Razavi Khorasan and Soroush Ighani to Mehriz in Yazd province. They must all must present themselves at the provincial Intelligence Department every day.
