Samin Ehsani, a Baha'i and children's rights activist, has been summoned to serve a five-year prison sentence after being convicted more than a decade ago

On 16 June, Samin Ehsani, a Baha'i citizen and children's rights activist, was arrested and transferred to Evin Prison to serve a five-year prison sentence.

This Baha'i citizen was arrested in August 2012 after appearing at the Evin Prison court to resolve unknown passport issues and was transferred to Evin Prison. She was released after a month of temporary detention on a bail of 185 million tomans.

Ehsani's trial was held in June 2012 in Branch 28 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Moghiseh, but the sentence has not been imposed until now. The verdict was upheld by the Court of Appeals.

Shortly before her first arrest, Samin Ehsani helped a number of Afghan children who do not have access to education in Iran by holding classes for them. Organizing this educational activity was one of the charges against her.
