A political commentator on Iranian state television warned viewers not to be "fooled by Baha'is being Iranian," claiming the persecuted religious minority is "one with Israel."

Ali Shirazi commented on a program called "To the Horizon of Palestine" broadcast on state television.

"They [Baha'is] are definitely divisive and have targeted the legitimacy of the Islamic system," Shirazi said, without providing evidence for his claims.

Shirazi said "insufficient awareness-raising" has been done about Baha'is, and young people do not know about "their connection to Israel."

He claimed Baha'is use money and media supported by what he called "global arrogance" to undermine Iran.

The broadcast comes as anti-Baha'i propaganda has intensified in Iranian official and semi-official media following the 12-day war between Israel and Iran.

A new wave of arrests, trials, and property confiscations of Baha'is has begun in various Iranian cities.

The Islamic Republic has accused Baha'is of ties to Israel since the government's establishment in 1979.

No security agencies, judicial bodies, or international organizations have provided evidence supporting the claim.

Last week, the Friday prayer leader in the city of Yasuj urged Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province residents to remain "cautious" regarding Baha'i land purchases.

"Some people are still trying to buy land and similar things in this very city of Yasuj," he said.

"We must be cautious and not indirectly help the enemy by strengthening them economically through renting shops in sensitive locations or buying from them."

The statements come amid continued government confiscation of Baha'i properties.

Religious foundations and state institutions have seized Baha'i assets in several cases and have refused to return them despite legal complaints.
