Mitra Bandi Amirabadi and Hiva Yazdan Mehdiabadi, two Baha'i citizens living in Yazd, were detained at their homes and transferred to Yazd Prison to serve eight-month sentences.

HRANA News Agency reported that the two Baha’is were arrested on December 13, 2021.

The two were first arrested in June 2020 and held for three months in the Yazd Intelligence Detention Center, where they were released on bail in September 2020, pending trial.

After their release on bail, the Second Branch of the Yazd Revolutionary Court, headed by Reza Javad Mousavi, sentenced them, along with two other Baha'i citizens, to a total of 13 years and four months in prison. The charges against these Baha'i citizens were “membership in an anti-regime [Baha’i] group” and “propaganda against the regime.”

In November of this year, Branch 11 of the Yazd Court of Appeals acquitted these citizens of the charge of "membership in an anti-regime group" and reduced the sentence for each to eight months in prison.

Bandi Amirabadi and Yazdan Mehdiabadi had also previously been arrested and imprisoned.

Mehdiabadi (née Behifar) was arrested by security forces in December 2017 for "teaching music to children" and transferred to Yazd Prison. She was released on bail in January 2018. A source familiar with the citizens' previous convictions told HRANA: "Ms. Bandi Amirabadi and Ms. Yazdan Mehdiabadi were previously arrested together and sentenced to suspended jail terms by a court. This sentence was concluded some time ago."
