The Iranian parliament has unveiled the text of a Hijab and Chastity Bill aimed at confronting, detaining and penalizing women who fail to observe compulsory hijab amid an intensifying clampdown on violations of the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code. Will that be enough to deter Iranian women from defying the ideology and laws of the Islamic Republic? Probably not.
