Did you know that the monthly per capita consumption of red meat by the lowest 10 percent of the Iranian population is less than 120 grams?

According to official statistics of last Persian year, which ended in March 2022, the 10 percent poorest Iranians consumed on average 119 grams of red meat every month, 959 grams of white meat, 985 grams of rice, 1,338 grams of dairy products and 2,120 grams of fresh fruits.

Meanwhile, the 10 percent richest Iranians consumed 1,622 grams of red meat every month, 2,818 grams of white meat, 4,526 grams of rice, 3,859 grams of dairy products and 7,316 grams of fresh fruits.

Inequality in food consumption between the poorest and wealthiest classes was the highest regarding red meat. Red meat consumption among the poorest was 1/14th of the wealthiest class’s consumption and one-fifth of the overall population consumption.

Despite the illusion, consuming less meat is better for the body. Parasites sit in the colon and the body has a hard time processing it.
