2018 Unrest: A Map of Jailed Protesters

According to Iranian government sources, more than 3,500 protesters were arrested during the first two weeks of January 2018. Most of the prisoners have no political or party affiliations and have remained anonymous. IranWire has begun compiling a list of those who were imprisoned during the January 2018 protests, and will be updating it on a regular basis. The names on this list are a fraction of the number of people who are currently in prison following the demonstrations.

The primary source of information is our network of citizen journalists across Iran. The names of those detained have been verified by at least two sources. But because of the dangers associated with revealing these names and the difficulties associated with verifying the information, inevitably, it is feasible that the occasional mistake will occur.
