On July 7, the new head of Iran’s prisons visited Tehran’s Evin Prison. During his visit, Asghar Jahangir was shown inmates’ cells, as well as designated areas for work, exercise and worship. Jahangir replaced Gholamhossein Esmaili as Iran’s prison chief in April, following a raid on Cell Block 350, in which several prisoners were physically assaulted.
