Police bust in Khorramabad

Locals are arrested for possession of drugs and petty theft in Khorramabad, the capital of Lorestan Province​, an area known by police to have high levels of crime. Many illegal acts, including murder, adultery, rape and drug smuggling, are punishable by death in Iran. With the highest drug addiction rate in the world and as the recipient of a high proportion of the opium produced in Afghanistan, the Islamic government launched another an anti-drugs campaign last year that has seized over 500 tonnes of drugs since its implementation.
