As Ramadan drew to a close, Iranians planned for a four-day weekend to celebrate Eid al-fitr. Many of Tehran’s residents travel north to the provinces of Mazandaran or Gilan to spend time with family and friends. But, in addition to packing travel necessities, holiday-makers must be prepared for heavy congestion on the roads, as long traffic queues make getting out of the capital a headache. Though it usually takes a couple of hours to get to these popular destinations, during the Eid break, it can take all day.
