Lar Reservoir: Iran’s Water Crisis in Pictures

The depletion of Tehran’s four main water reservoirs has led to a crisis in the region, exacerbated by continuing drought and high consumption rates. These photographs show the low levels at Lar Reservoir, which supplies up to 35 per cent of the capital’s water. This year, the five main reservoirs providing water for Tehran have seen their levels reduced by 40 per cent compared to last year’s levels.
