Rouhani Visits Rasht

President Hassan Rouhani visited Rasht, the capital of Gilan province, on April 15. Crowds of people turned up to welcome the president – and many took the opportunity to address short letters to him, giving their account of some of the hardships they face. Like so many places in Iran, daily life in Gilan, which lies on the Caspian Sea, has become increasingly difficult due to the province’s dwindling economy brought on by international sanctions.
