Work by some of the biggest names in Iranian art go on display in Tehran next week, culminating in an auction on October 17.

Masterpieces by Persian calligrapher Mir Emad Hassani and early Safavid-era painter Kamal Ol-din Behzad will be exhibited alongside work from well-known contemporary artists, including Mahmoud Farshchiyan and Aydin Aghdashlou. The exhibition, which begins on October 14, is open to the public and will feature 74 pieces of art. The auction three days later will pull in huge interest from Iran’s art collectors. The most expensive artwork, a painting entitled Sookht Charm by Mirza Agha Emami, is expected to draw in the highest bid, with an asking price starting at 750millian toman (US$25,038)
