An angry mob attacked and torched Saudi Arabia's embassy in Tehran on January 2, 2016. The attack started as a protest against the execution of the prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr by the Saudi government. Iranian police called the protests and the attacks illegal, and police chief Hossein Sajedinia said that a group of people have been arrested during the attacks.
