Thousands of people in Isfahan took part in renewed protests on the dried-up riverbed of Zayanderud this weekend after a fortnight of demonstrations over drought in the city. The Islamic Republic has long been accused of mismanagement in a range of sectors, leading in this city to severe water shortages. The peaceful protest included slogans including "Give Isfahan its breath, give back our Zayanderud” while others called for “equality and justice”.
