The Jergalan region in northern Khorasan is one of the most important areas in Iran for horse breeding. Khorasan hosts a number of important horse races, as well as an annual Turkoman horse festival. Breeding this rare horse, also known as the Akhal-Teke, is a cherished family tradition in the region, and has been handed down from generation to generation.
