Women of Kiasar Village

A lifetime of working in the fields has made the women of the village of Kiasar in the northern province of Mazandaran into a resilient and intrepid community. The strength and the hard work of these mothers and their children in raising crops and breeding livestock has created a bond between them and the equally stubborn nature around them.

Most of the village men, their husbands and their fathers, have left the village for towns in search of work and it is now up to women and their daughters to do everything — from agriculture to animal husbandry and handicrafts.
