Khuzestan Province, Iran, is one of several provinces that has been badly affected by the recent rainstorms and floods across Iran. There are concerns that the Karkheh River could flood, and, fearing flash floods, the governor of the southern province has instructed local officials not to leave the area..

These photos, taken before the recent storms, show the village of Deh-e Dik, not far from the historic city and mosque of Masjed Soleyman. Even before the storms, the nearby river has posed a range of problems for villagers, who are unable to access amenities in nearby cities since the village is not served by a bridge. The people, most of whom belong to a regional tribe, have been forced to come up with ways to travel across it.
