Operation Badr took place in 1984 in the Khuzestan and the Hur al-Azim region during Iran's bloody eight-year war with Iraq, which began 40 years ago last month. According to independent sources, more than 15,000 Iranian and 10,000 Iraqi soldiers were killed in this operation alone.
