Iranian authorities have released on bail a photojournalist and a reporter who had been arrested amid a brutal crackdown on nationwide protests and the media.
On the evening of February 6, Shargh newspaper published a picture of photojournalist Aria Jafari outside the prison where he was being held.
The mother of Nasim Sultan Beygi posted a photo of her daughter on social media after her release.
Dozens of journalists have been detained since anti-government protests erupted across Iran in the middle of September. Some of them have been released. Others have been summoned, threatened and had their electronic equipment seized.
Jafari, an award-winning photojournalist, was arrested on September 25 at his home in the central city of Isfahan.
The photojournalist, who has won four awards in different festivals in Iran, was previously arrested in 2014 for taking photographs from a protest gathering.
Sultan Beygi was arrested at Tehran’s international airport on January 10 while she was trying to leave Iran, her mother has said.
