Hana Khalaj, a photographer for the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), stated that she was fired from her job after posting photos of a protest rally.

She had been suspended earlier and finally received her dismissal letter on March 12.

"After several weeks of suspension and associated problems, I received my dismissal letter today from the photo service at the IRNA news agency," she wrote on her Instagram page.

Khalaj revealed that she had been terminated from her job following the publication of photographs of a protest rally.

On February 10, Mehrdad Bazrpash, Minister of Roads and Urban Development, accompanied by several MPs, attended a demonstration in a village in Qazvin province, where villagers protested against the "illicit acquisition of their pastures and lands by the government."

Tasked by the IRNA news agency to document the event in the village, Khalaj posted a photo of the villagers' protest on her personal Instagram the following day.

"Even though the minister, governor, and two members of parliament were there, the people voiced their dissatisfaction together. But their concerns were ignored, even though they were just a few steps away from the officials," she posted.

However, shortly after the publication of her post, Khalaj was summoned by security and judicial authorities and subsequently suspended from the IRNA news agency.
