One person died and at least 12 others were injured, including Iran’s minister of sports and youth, when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed in the eastern province of Kerman, officials and media reports say.
Local media reports said the aircraft was approaching the sports complex in the city of Baft when it crash-landed on the evening of February 23.
The cause of the incident is unknown.
The Kerman Emergency Department said that Minister Hamid Sajjadi sustained cerebral hemorrhage and was being transferred to the provincial capital, also named Kerman, for medical attention.
An advisor to the minister, identified as Esmail Ahmadi, was said to have been killed.
Kerman’s provincial governor said that a total of 12 passengers were injured in the crash.
The Tasnim news agency reported that there were 16 passengers on board the helicopter.
