Iranian security forces have arrested the son and brother of Fariba Borhanzehi Baluch, a renowned human rights activist who resides in London, according to a website covering news related to Iran’s ethnic Baluch minority.
Her 18-year-old son Amer Baluch and her brother Mohammad Molazehi, aged 25, were taken into custody in the south-eastern city of Iranshahr on June 18, Shivaz News reported.
The website said Amer Baluch recently traveled to England to visit his mother. From Tehran, he traveled to Iranshahr along with several relatives.
Security forces stopped the vehicle they were traveling in upon arriving in the city at around 10:00 p.m. on June 18 and detained the son and brother of the human rights activist.
Baluch's relatives are not involved in her human rights activities.
The Islamic Republic's security agencies routinely arrest family members of activists and journalists living abroad as a means to exert pressure on them.
