The Iranian authorities, fearing a flare up in protests ahead of the September 16 anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in police custody, have ramped up security measures in Kurdistan province, particularly Saqqez, where Amini is buried.
They have also intensified their crackdown on activists and families of those killed in the monthslong demonstrations sparked by the 22-year-old woman’s death.
