Iranian-born actress and human rights advocate Nazanin Boniadi says that she has been “detained and questioned” by counterterrorism and border officers at London’s Heathrow Airport on two occasions over the span of one week.
“This is at the same time that members of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Republic regime operate openly in the UK,” Boniadi wrote on the social media platform X on October 10.
“Rather than protecting us against a regime that actively targets its opponents on Western soil, the [Metropolitan Police Service’s] incompetence further undermines our security,” she continued, calling on the UK Home Office to “offer support for dissidents, not distress.”
On two occasions in the past week I’ve been detained and questioned by @metpoliceuk counterterrorism unit and border officers at London’s Heathrow Airport.

This is at the same time that members of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Islamic Republic regime operate openly in the UK.…
The British actress has drawn attention to human rights violations in Iran and used her voice to support the Woman, Life, Freedom, protest movement there.
She has urged foreign governments to come to the aid of the demonstrators who were being brutally repressed by the Islamic Republic authorities.
