Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is scheduled to travel to Tehran on Tuesday to hold meetings with Iranian officials, according to a report by Iran's official Press TV.

Hamas terrorist group leader Ismail Haniyeh will travel to Tehran on Tuesday to meet Iranian officials, a day after the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group, Iran's official Press TV reported.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is scheduled to travel to Tehran on Tuesday to hold meetings with Iranian officials, according to a report by Iran's official Press TV.

This visit comes on the heels of the UNSC passing a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group.

Iran has been a staunch supporter of Hamas throughout the nearly six-month conflict with Israel, which has resulted in the killing of over 32,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

This will mark Haniyeh's second visit to Iran since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel started the war on Gaza.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani praised Monday's UN resolution as a "positive step" but emphasized the need for effective action to ensure its implementation, Reuters reported. However, the decision of the United States to abstain from the UN vote has led to tensions with its ally Israel.

Meanwhile, Hamas has welcomed the UNSC resolution while underscoring the importance of a permanent ceasefire.
