Despite denials from the Interior Ministry, reports of tourist attractions, parks, and gardens closing on Sizdah Bedar, the last day of Nowruz celebrations, have emerged across Iran.

Ruhollah Ravan Shad, Deputy Director of Tourism for Fars province, officially announced the closure of historical and cultural sites and museums on April 1.

Similar closures have been reported from Taqbostan in western Kermanshah, Safeh Forest Park, and Najwan Park in Isfahan.

The Islamic Republic often tightens restrictions during Ramadan, including pressure on businesses and public spaces to enforce fasting rules.

Since Ramadan coincided with Nowruz this year, these pressures have escalated under the guise of "Social Security Improvement" plans.

Public eating and drinking are prohibited in Iran during Ramadan daylight hours.

Such developments have raised concerns regarding punishments for "not fasting without a religious reason," which can include whipping.
