Israel is on "high alert" for a potential Iranian attack and stands ready to retaliate, a spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said Saturday.
Daniel Hagari emphasized that Iran would face "consequences" for any further escalation of hostilities.
"We have increased our readiness to protect Israel from further Iranian aggression. We are also prepared to respond," said Hagari.
He added that Iran is "the biggest state sponsor of terror" and said the Islamic Republic is fueling the conflict in Ukraine.
"Its network of terror doesn’t just threaten the people of Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria; the regime in Iran fuels the war in Ukraine and beyond," he said.
The statements from the IDF come amid heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, as both nations have exchanged threats and accusations in recent weeks.
