In a move that has raised concerns about prison conditions, authorities at Evin Prison in Tehran have relocated political prisoners from Ward 6 to Wards 4 and 8.

The transfers, reportedly conducted without the prisoners' consent, have exacerbated overcrowding issues in Wards 4 and 8.

Some cells in Ward 4 now house over 20 inmates, leading to a lack of beds and forcing some prisoners to sleep on the floor.

Prisoners reportedly requested consolidation into a single ward but were informed by officials that the security committee mandated the split placement.

Further concerns surround hygiene conditions in Ward 8, which is reportedly plagued by a bed bug infestation.

This issue is not new, as the spread of skin diseases through bed bugs is a documented problem in Iranian prisons, causing discomfort and health problems for inmates.
