Iranian border guards opened fire on a vehicle in Baluchistan province, killing four Pakistani citizens and wounding two, Pakistani officials reported.
The reason behind the shooting that took place near Mashkel village on Wednesday remains unclear.
Local government administrator Sahibzada Asfand said authorities are investigating the incident, according to a report by AP.
Local police say the bodies of the four men had been handed over to their families.
Neither the Iranian government nor Pakistan's Foreign Ministry have commented on the incident so far.
The border between Iran and Pakistan is a known route for smugglers and insurgent activities.
In January, Pakistan conducted airstrikes inside Iran targeting alleged militant hideouts, retaliating against a similar attack by Iran.
The tit-for-tat strikes resulted in multiple casualties on both sides.
