Family Protests Unauthorized Use of Mousavi's Image in Election Rally

A campaign rally for presidential candidate Masoud Pezeshkian has sparked controversy due to the use of slogans and imagery associated with detained opposition leader Mir Hossein Mousavi.

The event, which featured chants of "Ya Hossein Mirhossein" and supporters holding Mousavi's posters, drew sharp criticism from Mohammed Fazelikia, husband of Mir Hossein Mousavi's daughter Narges. 

Fazelikia took to the social network X to condemn what he called the "instrumental use" of Mousavi's name, stating that "morality and fairness dictate that the instrumental use of Mir Hossein Mousavi's name be stopped."

Mir Hossein Mousavi, a reformist presidential candidate in 2009, has been under house arrest since 2011. Mousavi became a prominent face of the "Green Movement" street protests sparked by voting-rigging allegations.

The latest incident follows earlier rumors circulated by Pezeshkian's supporters claiming Mousavi endorsed their candidate. 

Narges Mousavi responded to these claims on Instagram with a "No Lies" poster, asserting that "Lies are also forbidden."

The Kalameh website, associated with the Green Movement, issued a statement emphasizing that any official position from Zahra Rahnavard and Mir Hossein Mousavi regarding the elections would only be valid if published through their platform. 

The statement referenced a similar incident during the March parliamentary elections, where false claims were made and subsequently denied.
