Unannounced Power Outages Resume in Iran, Disrupting Daily Life
The blackouts, which were previously halted on November 26, have returned unexpectedly

Unannounced two-hour residential power outages have resumed in Iran as part of efforts to manage fuel supplies for power plants.

The blackouts, which were previously halted on November 26, have returned unexpectedly.

Unlike the earlier period between November 11 and 26, when a schedule was shared with residents, this round of outages has been implemented without prior notice from the Ministry of Energy.

Residents in parts of Tehran reported power cuts on Wednesday and Thursday, experiencing significant disruptions, including interrupted water supply to residential buildings and mobile phone service failures.

Minister of Energy Abbas Aliabadi acknowledged ongoing energy supply challenges last month.

“We have endured challenging times due to energy imbalances, and difficult conditions lie ahead,” Aliabadi said, addressing the nation’s power supply issues.

The minister stated that the Ministry of Oil will soon resolve the fuel supply problems affecting power plants.

He also emphasized that the Ministry of Energy is fully prepared to meet the country’s electricity demands and will implement comprehensive strategic transformations in power generation.
