The judiciary-linked “Mizan” news agency reported on Thursday, April 23, that an individual convicted on security-related charges had been executed.
According to the report, Soltanali Shirzadi Fakhr, son of Shirali, was executed on charges of “membership in the MKO terrorist group” (Mujahedin-e-Khalq) and “collaboration with the Israeli intelligence service.”
Mizan said he had been a long-time member of the People’s Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and had worked with the group in different roles over the years.
The agency did not provide further information about when or where the execution took place. It also did not say whether the accused had access to legal counsel or share details about the judicial process.
In recent months, reports of rising executions in Iran have increased. Since the announcement of the ceasefire between the Islamic Republic and the United States in particular, the pace of carrying out death sentences, or what human rights organizations describe as “state killings,” has continued to intensify.
