Mojtaba Khamenei’s Written Message Warns Against Rifts

A written message attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei, the third leader of the Islamic Republic, was read aloud during the anniversary ceremony marking the death of Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran. In the message, which was read on Thursday, June 4, by Mohammad Javad Haj Ali Akbari, the Friday prayer leader of Tehran, the leader of the Islamic Republic accused the United States and Israel of waging a “hybrid war” against Iran. He stated that this war “is focused on two points: one being the resilience of the people, and the other, disrupting the decision-making apparatus of the country’s officials.”

Mojtaba Khamenei also labeled any action that, in his words, “causes pessimism and disillusionment” as “aiding the enemy,” and called for “maintaining unity, cohesion, and mutual trust” between the people and the officials of the regime.

Last week, Mojtaba Khamenei had similarly warned all those he termed “those ready to sacrifice their lives whose hearts beat for Islam and the Revolution or the independence and pride of Iran” not to “turn unjustified or even justified rifts into conflict and division.”

In another part of the message, Israel was described as “a garrison belonging to the system of arrogance,” and it was emphasized that the country spares no effort to prevent Iran’s progress.

The message also declared: “The malicious enemy has suffered defeat in the confrontation with your brave children in the armed forces,” adding that following what was termed a “meaningful and deep humiliation,” the enemy has focused on weakening the resilience of the people and inducing errors within the decision-making apparatus of officials.

In conclusion, the message urged everyone to neutralize the enemy’s “sinister plot” through steadfastness, clear-sightedness, the preservation of unity and cohesion, and by refusing to echo the enemy’s voice. Since the announcement of Mojtaba Khamenei’s name as the third leader of the Islamic Republic, no image or audio of him has been published, and Iranian media have only released written messages from him.

The anniversary ceremony of Ruhollah Khomeini’s death, which was held every year on June 4, featuring a speech by the leader of the Islamic Republic and attended by numerous senior officials and military commanders, was held this year in a highly restricted manner and without the presence of regime officials.
