The Directorate General of Civil Aviation of Kuwait announced that Iranian attacks targeting the country's territory in the early hours of Thursday, June 11, damaged the radar at the capital's airport and left several people injured.
In a letter addressed to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the directorate stated: "The airport radar was targeted in an attack early this morning." In its letter, the body noted that the strike "resulted in injuries to several individuals and caused significant material damage and losses to the radar facilities, equipment, and air traffic management systems."
In response to U.S. strikes on targets across its territory, Iran launched attacks against Kuwait and Bahrain in the early hours of Thursday, June 11. Iranian officials said they were targeting U.S. bases and assets in the Middle East.
In a related development, Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, announced in a post on the social media network X that she had held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
She added: "The resumption of attacks on the Persian Gulf countries and their critical infrastructure is unacceptable." She also noted that she had been in contact with Kuwait's Foreign Minister, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
