A disturbing set of images received by IranWire show children dressed and equipped as security forces in the city of Varamin, Tehran province, in an apparent government effort to dissuade street protests by deploying minors against demonstrating citizens.

The latest bid by Iranian authorities to suppress demonstrations comes on the 14th night of protests sparked across Iran by the September 16 murder of Mahsa Amini, who was detained for "improper hijab" and who died after being beaten the morality police.

IranWire has also received a number of videos – despite the ongoing internet shutdown – that show protests and strikes across several cities in the country.

Street protesters in Mashhad, the capital of Razavi Khorasan province and Iran's second city, called on their compatriots for support, while elsewhere in the city some protesters overturned a police car.

And in powerful scenes from Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan province, protestors including older Iranians intervened with Basij forces to try to stop their attempts to suppress the people and to compel them to join the people. The Basij is a paramilitary arm of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corp and are deployed during major protests.

Iranians in Sanandaj, Kurdistan, near Mahsa Amini's home town of Saqqez, large crowds of demonstrators chanted "Death to the dictator!" while in Sulaymaniyah, also in Kurdistant, security forces attacked protesting crowds.

A citizen journalist in Pardis, a suburb of Tehran, sent this video in which gunshots can be heard near a university campus area.

Truck drivers are one of several groups – including students and professors – that have gone on a national strike to support the recent protests. The truck driver in this video calls on his colleagues to join the strike.

And a rally by students at one university showed them chanting "You killed the students [and now] you are telling us to be quiet!"
