With the spread of Iranian people's protests in different cities, news of the arrest of a large number of citizens who joined or participated in popular protests have been published.

According to IranWire, on Sunday, September 27, 2022, a young woman named Sara Fereshteh Saniei was arrested and taken to an unknown place after security forces raided her home in Vila Street in Tehran.

According to the information received by IranWire, some friends of Ms. Fereshteh Saniei did not previously disclose that they had no information as to her whereabouts; but after four days, they said online that her house had been searched by security forces and some of her belongings were seized. Attempts to follow-up the case with the judicial system have been unsuccessful in obtaining information about her condition.

On Tuesday, September 27, 2022, Kurdpa news website also announced the arrest of two citizens in Osnavieh.

The identity of these citizens has been stated as Faryad (last name unknown), 20-year-old son of Ali and Kambiz Shahi, 24-year-old son of Karim.

News was also received about the arrest of journalist and civil activist Mehrnoush Tafian in Khuzestan.

Ahmad Moghadam Mousavi, a journalist from Khuzestan, said that Mrs. Tafian's son is "terrified" of his mother's arrest again.

Mehrnoosh Tafian was previously arrested and sentenced to three months in prison due to her media and civic activities.

In addition to protesting citizens and journalists, large numbers of students present at protest gatherings in recent days in support of Mahsa Amini's family were arrested.

According to published news, Hossein Rahad, a master's student in Persian language and literature at Neishabour University, was arrested by security forces in Neishabour on Saturday, October 2, and was taken to an unknown place.

Ahmad Pirouznia, a PhD student of Persian language and literature of Tarbiat Modares University, was also arrested by security forces on September 27.

Student activists say that this student left the dormitory to go shopping yesterday and was interrogated and beaten by uniformed officers and plainclothes agents in Enghelab Square for no apparent reason.

According to an eyewitness, Pirouznia returned to the dormitory a few minutes later, but a few hours later, he left again and did not return after receiving a call from the news department of the Ministry of Intelligence.

Ahmed Moghadam Mousavi confirmed the arrest of Mehrnoosh Tafian and announced the arrest of Ramin Kiani, a former student activist of Chamran University of Ahvaz and a master's degree in international relations.

The Telegram channel of United Students also published a picture of Mehdi Kohnoord, an agricultural student of Tehran University, and announced that he was arrested on Sunday, September 25, and that no news about him has been seen to date.

Student activists also announced the transfer of Shahu Bayazidi, a philosophy student at Allameh Tabatabai University, who was violently arrested by the security police on Monday, September 19, and transferred to the Greater Tehran Prison (Fashafouyeh). According to the published information, Shahu Bayazidi suffered many injuries to his face due to the beating, and his wounds were stitched.

Until the moment of writing this report, there is no information about the charges and the whereabouts of many arrested citizens, and the lack of information and the unknown status of those arrested in these protests have increased concerns.

The current protests in Iran started after the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman from Saqqez, who was arrested by the morality police agents on September 13 and died three days later after being mistreated in custody.

Eyewitnesses to Mahsa Amini's assault in the morality police van declared the cause of her coma as beating and injuries.
