Abolfazl Pourhosseini, a resident of Karaj, has been held in detention for over three months on the charge of "disrespecting the leadership."
A source familiar with Pourhosseini's situation told IranWire that plainclothes officers took him into custody on the evening of June 23 in Karaj, near Tehran, and subjected him to severe physical violence.
The officers hit the testicles of Pourhosseini, who had undergone testicular surgery prior to his arrest, the source said.
Pourhosseini spent nearly a week at the Qeshlaq Hill police station in Karaj, during which his house was searched by security agents.
Despite assurances that Pourhosseini would be released on bail, security authorities in Alborz province transferred him to the central prison in Karaj.
The family rejects the accusations against Pourhosseini, who has a pregnant wife.
