Iranian prison authorities are not allowing the transfer to hospital of a Kurdish political prisoner who has suffered a litany of physical ailments during his lengthy incarceration.
According to IranWire sources, Motaleb Ahmadian was scheduled to be hospitalized on September 27 to receive much-needed medical care, but the head of Tehran’s Evin prison, Hedayat Farzadi, halted the transfer of the detainee.
As Ahmadian was preparing to be moved to the hospital, the prison authorities informed him that there were no vehicles available to transport him.
Since his arrest in 2009, Ahmadian has suffered testicular and bladder infections, as well as a number of other health problems reportedly caused by torture.
IranWire sources say that Ahmadian currently struggles to eat due to severe stomach ailments.
Another prisoner in Evin, American-Iranian dual national Faramarz Javidzad, reportedly died in the prison hospital on September 23 due to a lack of medical care.
