A detained Iranian physician who came to the aid of injured protesters during last year's nationwide protests has been transferred to prison.
Yaser Rahmanirad was arrested on September 21 during a dawn raid on his home in the western city of Khorramabad.
IranWire has learned that he has been moved from a detention center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to Khorramabad’s prison.
Earlier, sources reported that the prosecutor of the Court of Appeals of Lorestan province requested Rahmanirad’s temporary release.
The physician was previously detained in Mahabad, West Azerbaijan province, for helping victims of the Islamic Republic’s brutal crackdown on demonstrators.
Rahmanirad was later released on bail, and the authorities dismissed the charges against him and closed his case.
Following his release from detention, he continued to offer medical aid to protesters who suffered eye injuries inflicted by security forces.
