Manoochehr Bakhtiari, a political prisoner currently incarcerated at Choobindar Prison in Qazvin, has been sentenced to an additional 13 months and 15 days in prison.
His son, Pouya Bakhtiari, was fatally shot on November 19, 2019, on the second day of widespread protests triggered by the government's sudden decision to raise gas prices.
This latest conviction for "disseminating false information" marks the third time Bakhtiari has faced new charges while already imprisoned.
Bakhtiari's initial arrest occurred in April 2021.
The Revolutionary Court sentenced him to over three years in prison, followed by exile and a travel ban.
In November 2023, he received another six months for "insulting the Supreme Leader," a conviction that was upheld on appeal.
Most significantly, in January, the court sentenced Bakhtiari to a total of 18 years for various charges, including national security offenses and "propaganda against the Islamic Republic."
However, those convictions were overturned on appeal, with the case remanded for review.
