Sahand Noor Mohammadzadeh, a political prisoner arrested during the 2022 protests in Iran, has been temporarily released from prison to undergo eye surgery for the second time.

Noor Mohammadzadeh, who was initially arrested in October 2022 outside his home in West Tehran, had previously undergone eye surgery.

According to reports from sources close to the case, the deteriorating condition of Noor Mohammadzadeh's eyes is due to the pressure he endured while in prison.

The exact nature of this pressure has not been specified, but it raises concerns about the treatment of political prisoners in Iran's detention facilities.

The need for a second surgery arose when a spot developed inside the iris of Noor Mohammadzadeh's eye.

Despite undergoing laser surgery previously, the problem persisted, necessitating another operation.

Noor Mohammadzadeh's case gained significant attention when he was initially sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran.

He was arrested in front of his house in Tehran during protests on October 4, 2022, and was sentenced to death two months later for allegedly attempting to break the guardrail of a highway and setting fire to a dustbin.

The Supreme Court cancelled the death sentence in March this year and sentenced him to six years of imprisonment and 10 years of exile in Kerman Province, according to his lawyer.
