The Islamic Republic's authorities have denied medical treatment to a political prisoner.
Mehdi Hasani, a political prisoner held in the fourth ward of Evin prison, is suffering from severe health issues, including sciatica, due to inadequate medical care.
Last year, Hasani was transferred to the general ward of Evin prison. Since then, his requests for medical attention have gone unanswered.
After persistent follow-ups by Hasani and his fellow inmates, it was revealed that, while the prison clinic had approved his transfer to treatment centers outside the prison last year, security and prosecution agencies intervened to prevent this from happening.
Hasani was sentenced to death under controversial circumstances.
He was convicted based on what are described as false accusations and without the benefit of legal representation.
The trial process is said to have lasted only a few minutes.
