Armita Geravand has been hospitalized in a coma since October 1, when she sustained a “head trauma” in an incident in a Tehran subway station. Reports suggest that she was physically assaulted by a hijab enforcement officer.

The condition of a 16-year-old Iranian girl who has been hospitalized in a coma for 10 days has deteriorated, according to local reports.

Armita Geravand was admitted to Fajr Military Hospital on October 1 after sustaining a “head trauma” in an incident in a Tehran subway station, according to information obtained by IranWire.

The authorities say the teenager fainted due to "a loss of blood pressure," but reports suggest that she was physically assaulted by a hijab enforcement officer.

The Hamshahri newspaper, which is affiliated with the Tehran Municipality, reported on October 11 that "despite continuous efforts of the medical staff at Fajr Hospital, Armita Geravand's previously stable vital signs have deteriorated over the past few days." Vital signs include heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure and temperature.

The official IRNA news agency, the government-affiliated Borna news agency and other media outlets published similar reports, insisting that "the medical team is persistently working to improve Armita Geravand's condition."
