The Appeals Court of Gilan Province has upheld a sentence totaling over 60 years in prison for eleven women's rights advocates.

The ruling, issued on May 28 by Branch 11 under Judge Mohammad-Sadegh Iran-Aghideh, handed Zohreh Dadras the most severe sentence of nine years, six months, and two days.

She was charged with the serious offense of "forming a group to act against national security."

Ten other advocates, including Forough Saminia, Sara Jahani, Yasamin Hashdari, Shiva Shah Sia, Negin Rezaie, Azadeh Chavoshian, and Matin Yazdani, were each sentenced to six years and 47 days in prison for "joining a group to act against national security."

Additionally, Hooman Taheri and Jelveh Javaheri each received one year for "propaganda against the Islamic Republic."

The original verdict was issued in March.

They were later released on bail from Lakan Prison in Rasht pending their appeals.

The activists were arrested on August 16 last year when security forces raided their homes in the cities of Rasht, Anzali, Lahijan, and Foman.

In September, around 300 political and civil rights activists signed a joint statement calling for their "unconditional release."
