A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her father in Kermanshah on Monday, one day after returning to her family home.
Donya Hosseini was killed in the Dowlatabad neighborhood by her father, Yadollah Hosseini, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Sources close to the family say Donya’s husband had divorced her 40 days earlier over allegations of a relationship with another man.
Her father attacked her with a bladed weapon shortly after she returned home.
State media described the killing as stemming from “family disputes.” The suspect was arrested hours after the murder.
Under Iranian law, fathers who kill their children face lighter sentences than those in typical homicide cases.
