Iran Film Association Speaks Out Against “Infanticide” Amid Brutal Protest Crackdown

“From now on we will live and work in the reality. We will stand where the dear people of Iran stand,” the Iranian Short Film Association said.
“From now on we will live and work in the reality. We will stand where the dear people of Iran stand,” the Iranian Short Film Association said.

The Iranian Short Film Association says the killing of dozens of children in a fierce state crackdown against nationwide demonstrations has convinced it to resolutely take the side of the protest movement that has convulsed Iran for more than two months.

“Infanticide and violence against children” are being committed in the streets in the “most horrifying and naked form,” the association said in a statement on its website.

The statement comes as a Norway-based human rights group reported that at least 378 people, including 47 under-18s, have been killed so far by security forces since the protests demanding more freedoms and women's rights erupted in mid-September.

“Now that we are losing our children and young people, now that the government does not value the price of life, does not listen to the voice of the nation, and considers our children, brothers and sisters as an enemy who can be fired at, how can we trust it?” the Iranian Short Film Association asked.

As the clerical regime is “not ready to take even one step back for the will of the nation, we take a step forward to say that from now on we will live and work in the reality. We will stand where the dear people of Iran stand,” it added.
