Amid massive security presence, Mahsa Amini’s family visited her grave in the western Kurdish city of Saqqez on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the young woman’s death, IranWire has learned.

Mahsa’s relatives went to Aichi cemetery on the evening of September 15, as helicopters were hovering over their heads and military personnel and police officers were stationed throughout the area.

The security forces conducted physical searches on people entering the cemetery and checked their IDs.

Cars with license plates from outside Saqqez were photographed.

Several army vehicles were positioned at the entrance of the cemetery, inside which nearly 100 security forces formed a corridor leading to Mahsa's tomb.

Members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and police personnel were also deployed across the cemetery.

The number of surveillance cameras monitoring Mahsa's tomb has dramatically increased.

The escalated security measures in and outside Aichi cemetery is part of efforts by the authorities to prevent protests on the anniversary of Mahsa’s death, which sparked months of nationwide protests.

A massive presence of armed security forces was also reported around Mahsa’s family home in Saqqez.
